I figured I'd ask the TAY community for help since I'm at my wits end with Windows. A couple of months ago, I noticed my desktop (running Win7) has been acting oddly. It started with extremely long load times and got to the point where it took about 5 minutes to boot, though the OS is running off an SSD and would normally boot in about 15 seconds. I was out of town and wasn't able to address the issue and figured it was one of Windows' quirks that would hopefully resolve itself over time. No such luck. Now, when I turn on the desktop it gives me a "The User Profile Service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded" message. I try to boot into Safe Mode to fix it, but it hangs when it gets to CLASSPNP.
Does anybody who's better versed with Windows have any ideas on how to resolve this? My last resort is to do a clean install, but the thought of having to re-download everything has me stalling on the decision.
